Services

These days almost half the adult population have used drugs in their life. More than 1 in 6 people in their early 20s use drugs on a regular basis. The implications for Health and Safety in the Workplace, provision of Medical Services in the Community and Family and Child Protection make monitoring drug use an essential support tool.

Experienced, reliable and cost effective

TrichoTech has provided drug testing services to the medico-legal professions since 1993, with a UK and European lead expertise in analysing hair and oral fluids. Hair analysis profiles drug use going back months instead of the days or hours that urine or oral fluid samples provide. To date, over 3000 law firms have used our services for child residence and protection orders, divorce and family issues, and criminal cases.

New – Testing Hair For Alcohol Misuse

We now also offer a hair test which can help identify possible alcohol misuse. The analysis looks for the metabolite Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) which is only produced by the body when alcohol is present. While other tests - such as for ethanol in blood and urine - can detect recent alcohol intake and whether a person is under the influence of alcohol, our analysis records the EtG levels for a retrospective month, and if high levels of EtG are found, that is suggestive of alcohol misuse.

For speed, convenience and security, we also provide a UK wide network of collectors trained directly by us to take samples correctly and under chain of custody procedures. We also run training sessions for organisations who wish to carry out collections themselves. Collecting a hair or an oral fluid sample is simple, quick and can be performed by anyone carefully following the brief set of instructions that accompany each kit. Medical training is not required.More

Hair testing provides profiles of drug use or abstinence over months not days, and is the test of choice for monitoring treatment and for the effective support of recruitment, internal promotions, workplace and post-disciplinary/rehabilitation testing. Oral fluid tests will detect drugs of abuse for up to approx. 24 hours after ingestion. They are particularly useful for checks on safety operations or for post-incident testing. More
